Next summer transfer window is set to be one of the most entertaining in recent years given all the players that could change their teams and how some of them are followed by the best clubs in Europe. Three names that we will see a lot next offseason are Manchester City, Barcelona, and Real Madrid.
The English giants are used to spending a lot of money in recent years and the summer of 2020 won’t be the exception. The Citizens have reportedly joined the race for Napoli’s highly-rated midfielder Fabian Ruiz amid interest from both Real Madrid and Barcelona.
According to The Guardian, City sent scouts to watch Ruiz in action against Salzburg in the Champions League this Wednesday.
He’s done it great with the Italian side ever since he made it from Betis. Last summer he was named as the best player of the Under-21 European Championship, helping Spain lift their fifth title, which earned him a call into the senior side. Ruiz has been likened to City star David Silva in recent times, more knowing that the veteran is leaving the Etihad Stadium next summer.
Napoli spent £25.5 million to bring Ruiz to Italy last year and they surely expect to get a huge offer to part ways with the young playmaker.
"I paid €30m for Fabian and he's a fantastic player. If some of the European top clubs were to offer €180 million (£155m) we can start talking about selling him," the club's chairman, Aurelio De Laurentiis, said last week.
Manchester and Napoli haven’t had the best relationship since City’s pursuit of Jorginho last summer fractured it, with the player joining Chelsea instead to reunite with Maurizio Sarri.
Ruiz is drawing more and more attention every day, and not only City will want to land him, so Napoli can take advantage of this situation.
