Manchester City have reportedly joined the race to sign Brescia star Sandro Tonali, as the young player keeps drawing attention from some of the best clubs in Europe.
The Citizens have joined Manchester United, Paris Saint-Germain and Atletico Madrid in the chase for the 19-year-old, according to the club’s president, who insists Tonali would be better off staying with Brescia.
Every big club in the old continent is keeping tabs on this guy, with United sending scouts to watch Italy international Tonali in Brescia's Serie A match against Juventus at the end of last month. Massimo Cellino, Brescia’s president, admitted all these clubs are following his starlet, putting a high price for his services.
“All the big Italian clubs, and abroad Atletico Madrid, PSG and Manchester City. But in my view, he'd be better off remaining with Brescia,” Cellino told Gazzetta dello Sport.
“The other day, his agent and his parents were telling me about this €50m evaluation. I replied that for me he is worth €300m, which means I don't want to sell.
“I have a dream. If Sandro accepts, I am ready to make a big financial sacrifice to extend his contract.
“It's up to him to decide. He can stay here and enjoy his football, or go to a big club and risk being left on the bench.”
You have to be doing something good if all these teams are trying to get your signature, and Tonelli certainly is. He’s been likened to Andrea Pirlo during his first season playing in the first tier of Italian football, which says how good he's been so far.
Having that in mind, even with the valuation of Cellino, it won’t take long to see this guy going to play in a bigger team.
