Transfer Rumors: Manchester City Trying To Make Surprising Move For Paris Saint-Germain Superstar

Albeit Manchester City haven’t been as active as prior years this summer transfer window, the Citizens are still on the hunt to sign players and now they will try to land one big name before it's too late to pull off a move.

It looks like Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola has been trying to lure Paris Saint Germain forward Kylian Mbappe to England this offseason. The French wonderkid had another marvelous campaign at Parc des Princes last season, scoring 33 goals in 29 Ligue 1 matches.

Right now Mbappe is valued at £180 million, but given the interest from Real Madrid and now from Manchester City, that price would be higher soon. According to El Pais, PSG will intend to lock Mbappe down to a lucrative new contract worth £860,000 per week, with City now eyeing a potential swoop before the August 8 transfer deadline.

The report notes that Guardiola has been targeting the French superstar as a direct long-term replacement for 31-year-old Sergio Aguero.

El Pais also stated that Mbappe will get a new contract offer as long as they get enough funds, which could arrive with Neymar's potential return to Barcelona this offseason.

Last season City continued his domestic dominance by winning a treble, but after failing again to win the Champions League, signing the 20-year-old superstar looks like a great option for Les Parisiens.

Real Madrid decided to wait one more year before making a move for Mbappe, but now with City interested in the forward, too, the picture doesn’t look so good for Los Blancos.
