Manchester City might be lining up a move for one of the most exciting young players in Europe right now, as they attempt to beat their city rivals Manchester United. The Citizens are eyeing a move to sign former academy starlet Jadon Sancho.
Sancho spent two years in City’s academy, but first-team opportunities for him weren’t very likely. He took off to Germany to join Borussia Dortmund, where he developed his game to become one of the most promising players in the world at this very moment.
Last year, the Englishman managed 12 goals and 14 assists in just 34 appearances, starting this new campaign the same way.
It was reported that Manchester United were ready to strike a deal for Sancho during the summer, but that never came to fruition. Now, according to 90min, the Red Devils remain confident that they can put their hands on Sancho next summer, but they will face big competition from other big clubs.
German outlet SportBild (via Sport Witness) claim that Manchester City are 'very interested' in bringing back their academy product. This comes days after several reports suggested the current Premier League champions were willing to sell Leroy Sane amid interest from Bayern Munich. The club have been linked with Mikel Oyarzabal, but Sancho is now also being considered.
Of course, this move won’t come cheap for any team interested in the player since Dortmund are looking for a fee of over €100 million (£86m). Nevertheless, it’s been reported that United are ready to meet Dortmund’s demands to make a mega transfer next year.
Sancho continues to display good things this season and it’s not a shock that big clubs like City and United are following him. However, there are other sides interested in the English international, such as Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, who won’t hesitate to place a huge bid to steal this guy from the Westfalenstadion.
