Manchester City could be lining up a big move to steal one of Liverpool’s biggest stars. The Reds have had a terrific season in which they look on their way to win the Premier League title for the first time ever. Nevertheless, the Merseysiders could lose one of their key assets to one of their biggest rivals, Manchester City.
Pep Guardiola is reportedly eager for City to seal an ambitious transfer swoop for Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold. The defender has become one of the finest players in his position, and looks an ideal fit for Guardiola’s style of play at City, while it would also be a great idea for the reigning Premier League champions to weaken their rivals.
Liverpool are the current leaders of the Premier after an outstanding start to the season, with Alexander-Arnold once again showing himself to be one of Jurgen Klopp’s most important players. Still, City could take the youngster from Anfield Road as Guardiola pushes for the club to launch a bid of around €100 million for the England international.
This is reported by Don Balon, who have also linked Alexander-Arnold with Barcelona in the past. They go further and say Guardiola is obsessed with this signing, but it’s hard to see Liverpool letting one of their most important assets go just like that.
However, the Reds saw how a young Raheem Sterling joined City despite him becoming a key figure during his time at Anfield.
Things are different now and Liverpool are one of the strongest sides in European football, so one imagines the Merseyside giants could now more easily persuade a player like Alexander-Arnold that he can fulfill his ambitions with them.
He became a Champions League winner last season and this one could now be on his way to becoming a Premier League champion.
