It looks like Alexis Sanchez is leaving Manchester United and returning to Italy after all, as United and Internazionale have apparently agreed on terms to send the Chilean forward to Milan on a loan deal.
According to Sky Sports, Inter have agreed on a deal with the Red Devils that will see the former Arsenal, Barcelona player spend the next 10 months at the Giuseppe Meazza. The move will cost Inter around £6 million, but the Italians won't have an option to buy Sanchez at the end of the season.
The Serie A giants are expected to contribute around €5 million (£4.5m) of the Chile forward's salary, according to Sky in Italy, and he is set to arrive in Milan on Wednesday for a medical. After having an overwhelming tenure with United, Sanchez impressed in this year’s Copa America with Chile but hasn’t seen a single minute with Manchester this season due to an injury.
Having already secured Romelu Lukaku, who started the season scoring a goal against Lecce, Antonio Conte and company are eager to bring Sanchez in. He was great during his stint with Udinese, forming a great duo with Antonio Di Natale, and now the Nerazzurri hope to bring Alexis back to his best level.
With Alexis' departure, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will have just Anthony Martial, Marcus Rashford and 17-year-old Mason Greenwood as his striking options. To make things worse, they could be without Martial for some time after he suffered a thigh injury in their 2-1 home defeat to Crystal Palace on Saturday.
Now is the time when they regret not having signed an alternative for Lukaku, and parting ways with Alexis won’t be helpful, either.
