Manchester United are ready to face Real Madrid to get the signature of one of the most promising strikers in Europe this past couple of months. United changed their transfer policy this summer, aiming at young players to strengthen their ranks instead of veteran assets.

That said, the Red Devils are now considered Real Madrid’s biggest rivals to sign Red Bull Salzburg striker Erling Haaland. Haaland has had a terrific start to the season, scoring 18 goals in his first 11 matches this term.

According to Don Balon, Haaland’s impressive form has prompted both Manchester and Real Madrid to set their sights on him, with United thought to be the strongest candidate to seal a potential transfer for the Norwegian striker. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could certainly do with snapping up his countryman, with United going through a crisis in the Premier League right now.

They are short of personnel in the attack after making a risky decision to sell Romelu Lukaku in the summer and loaning out Alexis Sanchez. Sure, neither Lukaku nor Sanchez were great at Manchester, but they are having a hard time trying to replace the two forwards.

Haaland could help United fix some of the problems they’re facing right now, but leaving all the responsibility to a 19-year-old isn’t the best option for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. Furthermore, just like he can be a great addition to United’s attack, he could serve as Karim Benzema’s long-term replacement at Real, as well, more knowing the struggles of Luka Jovic to find a spot in Zinedine Zidane’s starting XI.
