Transfer Rumors: Bayern Munich Star To Make Shocking Borussia Dortmund Return

After a very good season in which they finished as runners-up in the Bundesliga, Borussia Dortmund are ready to come back stronger and dethrone Bayern Munich once and for all next season. The German side have been making some good signings in the last couple of seasons and this summer they will intend to keep things like that.

With a very good group of young players, the Black and Yellow will try to add some experience to the squad and they have reportedly found a player that will take them to the next stage. Mats Hummels is set for a shocking move away from Bayern Munich and everything points out he will be completing a return to former club, Borussia Dortmund.

Hummels left Dortmund amid controversy and joined Bayern back in 2016, but he now appears to be ready to complete a transfer back to Signal Iduna Park. In recent weeks the center-back was said to be considering his future out of Allianz Arena, but nothing suggested a return to BVB was among his options.

However, reports from both Bild and Sky Sports indicate a return to Dortmund is imminent, but Hummels will have to accept a significant pay cut of around €2 million per year to complete the deal. This past season started the best way for Dortmund, they took a huge lead on the scoreboard before a mid-season collapse destroyed all the progress they made through the year.

That is why the team is keen to bring the experienced international back to the club, knowing they have a young squad with lack of title-winning experience, something Hummels has in abundance. Even though the Black and Yellow recently banned selling players to Bayern Munich, the situation is different across the street and Niko Kovac has reportedly given the go ahead for the sale.

With a fee expected to be in the region of €15-20 million plus add ons, Hummels may be emulating Mario Gotze, who came back to Dortmund after not so good seasons with Bayern. If the defender comes back, he will be very welcomed by Dortmund’s supporters; Hummels was one of the leaders of the team that reached the Champions League Finals in 2013 and if he can lead the team to do the same again, this signature will be great for everybody in the club.
