Transfer Rumors: Maurizio Sarri Identifies Premier League Star As ‘Marquee’ Signing This Summer

Despite having completed impressive moves this offseason, Italian giants Juventus aren’t done with their transfer plans. In fact, they are reportedly ready to keep purchasing players this summer and the next one could be a great addition to their already powerful squad.

Their boss, Maurizio Sarri has reportedly identified a top-level midfielder as his primary target, wanting a marquee signing before the summer's end. Well, now Juve are thought to be considering a move for Tottenham Hotspur’s playmaker Christian Eriksen, as they intend to improve their seven-man strong midfield.

At the beginning of the transfer window, the Old Lady was believed to be the frontrunner to get a deal completed for Paul Pogba alongside Real Madrid, but in recent days they ruled out a move for the French and now are focused on the Danish midfielder. With their ranks full of good midfielders, it would be weird to see them making a move for yet another one, but Blaise Matuidi and Sami Khedira are on their way out according to recent reports.

Per CalcioMercato, Juve considered others assets this summer, including Sergej Milinkovic Savic and Real Madrid's Isco. Yet, after the injury of Marco Asensio, Zinedine Zidane’s stance on Isco have changed considerably, thus the Spanish club would want him to stay.

Nicolo Zaniolo of Roma was another player on the Zebras' radar but was not seen as a priority this summer.

Eriksen has only one year remaining on his contract with Spurs, therefore the North Londoners need to sell the player this summer before losing him for nothing next season. With the player stating that now is a good time for a new challenge, Juventus might have a good chance to land him, even though they face competition in Real Madrid, as it was with Pogba.

To make this deal happen, it is thought that any of Gonzalo Higuain, Matuidi and Khedira may need to be sold shortly.
