Despite not being used to spend a lot of money in players, Napoli might be changing their transfer policy this summer as they aim to land one of the most dangerous strikers in Serie A. The Parthenoppeans have known how to sign well in recent campaigns, especially when it comes to attackers.
They had two of the best South American strikers within their ranks in the past with Edinson Cavani and Gonzalo Higuain and now they’ll try to add another big name to the list. In recent hours Napoli have increased their interest in Inter forward Mauro Icardi, with club president Aurelio De Laurentis prepared to offer the star a €10-million salary per year if he takes his talents to the Stadio San Paolo.
Icardi has been thought to be leaving Inter in the past and this summer those rumors have grown as his wife and agent Wanda Nara made sure to end every connection Icardi had left with the club's hierarchy.
After Internazionale failed to complete a swap deal with Manchester United to send Icardi to Old Trafford and receive Romelu Lukaku in exchange, the Italian giants are now on the hunt for suitors to buy the Argentinian striker.
According to a report from Corriere dello Sport, one of the most serious candidates they have at this moment comes from the Serie A, in rivals Napoli.
Carlo Ancelotti might have an impressive squad ahead of next season if they land Icardi this summer, as they also are edging closer to agreeing to a deal with Real Madrid for the transfer of James Rodriguez.
Inter are keen to land Lukaku this offseason and, in order to get the deal done, they have to wait until they sell Mauro Icardi, or any other player, trying to raise enough funds to afford the Belgian striker. As for Napoli, they aren’t hurried to purchase Icardi and are apparently waiting to see what Juventus are preparing to offer the player before they make a final move
