A lot has been said about Neymar and his situation in Paris Saint-Germain. The Brazilian forward was heavily linked with a move back to Barcelona in the summer, but nothing happened in the end, leaving Ney hopeless to make his longed-for return to Catalonia.
Now, the Brazil international is reportedly having his legal team look at potential ways to find his way back to Barcelona after he left the Catalan giants back in 2017 for a world-record fee of just over £200million.
However, this won’t go that easy for Neymar, who hasn’t enjoyed the best time in Paris. Fans aren’t happy with him right now, and this move won’t help his cause. Ney was expected to be the leader of the team, but he’s mightily struggled to find a place where he feels confident, leading to rumors suggesting he’s ready to call it quits with Les Parisiens.
The 27-year-old has chosen to live outside of Paris which has left a sour taste with the club's supporters and he hasn’t shown any intention of changing his surroundings, via SPORT.
He was recently pictured with former teammates Luis Suarez and Lionel Messi, which took rumors to the sky.
Neymar is preparing his legal team as he is coming to the end of his 'protected period' with PSG; this period ends after his third campaign at the club. In this case, the upcoming summer. This contract clause falls under the 'Regulations for the Statute and Transfer of FIFA'.
This means the player can start talking with Barcelona in the summer, as he is able to essentially 'buy himself out'.
Article 14 of the FIFA regulations state:
"A contract may be terminated by either party without consequences of any kind (either payment of compensation or imposition of sporting sanctions) where there is just cause."
Further to this, Article 16 reads: "A contract cannot be unilaterally terminated during the course of a season."
FIFA will set the amount of compensation that must be paid by the player.
A tumultuous tenure is set to have a tumultuous end, with Neymar ready to do everything he can to return to the Camp Nou.
