Real Madrid and Barcelona are ready to take their rivalry to different grounds. The two Spanish giants are set to fight for the right to sign one of the most talented midfielders in Europe over the last couple of seasons.

Tottenham Hotspurs wantaway Christian Eriksen was linked with both teams over the summer, but he didn’t receive any offer from any of them, and now is set to run down his contract with the Spurs, hoping to leave the club next summer, for free. Eriksen is on the last months of his contract with the Lillywhites, and once January arrives, he’ll be free to negotiate with foreign teams.

Now, Eriksen is reportedly ‘happy’ to join Barcelona amid links with Los Blancos, who were hoping to get the Dane midfielder in January for a bargain price. As per Diario Gol, if Eriksen fails to sign a new deal with Spurs between now and January, he’ll be able to open talks with foreign clubs at the turn of the year regarding a free transfer next summer, with Real said to be ready and waiting for this time in order to open negotiations with the player.

Here is when Barcelona make their appearance, as it’s also noted that the 27-year-old would be ‘happy’ to join Barcelona in the future and destroy Madrid’s plans with a move to Catalonia. Barcelona see this situation as a good opportunity to strengthen their midfield and mess with their archrivals in the process, getting themselves one of the best playmakers in the world right now.

He’s also been linked with a move to Manchester United, but the former Ajax player has stated he wants to leave England. With these reports seeing the light, Madrid will have to move fast if they want to land Eriksen after several months of rumors and speculation about his future.
