Real Madrid and Barcelona are both planning a wild move regarding two of the biggest figures in Liverpool. The pair is ready to make an approach for both Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp and defender Virgil van Dijk.
Klopp and van Dijk have taken the Reds to become one of the best teams in Europe, with Klopp leading the team from the sidelines while van Dijk does the same on the pitch. It’s not a shock that they won the Champions League this past season, with van Dijk awarded the best player in the continent a couple of weeks ago.
That said, AS claim that Real and Barcelona know their qualities and are planning some drastic changes, and they both want Klopp and van Dijk to lead their new projects.
Starting with the boss, Madrid officials are thought to have some doubts on whether Zinedine Zidane is going to be able to replicate the good things he did during his first stint with the club, while Ernesto Valverde hasn’t earned a lot of love over the last couple of months, a situation that has made both clubs look for alternatives for their current managers.
Even though Klopp has proven to be one of the best bosses in the world right now, the two sides want to sign him because they feel that would give them an advantage in their attempts to lure Virgil van Dijk to Spain. The Dutch defender is arguably the best in his position at this moment, so it’s not a shock all the attention he’s getting right now.
Nevertheless, this move is highly unlikely at this moment, as Liverpool don’t want to part ways with Klopp or van Dijk. The only option Madrid and Barca have right now is that any of them push for an exit, but seeing how good and comfortable they are at Anfield Road, that looks very hard.
