The Neymar saga has yet again taken a different path after reports suggested that Real Madrid were back in the race for the Brazilian’s signature. Rumors have increased over the last couple of days and now people are claiming that Los Blancos are ‘close’ to completing a deal for Neymar.
Barcelona were thought as the primary spot for Neymar, with the club studying every chance they had to bring the winger back to Catalonia. Well, all of that changed in the last few days and now Ney’s next destination appears to be Madrid, where Barca’s archrivals, Real Madrid, wait for him.
Of course, with PSG huge demands, Real has to offer a swap deal for the Brazilian, but they could be close to getting a bid accepted by the Ligue 1 champions.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the name of Gareth Bale was brought up a couple of times in discussions as a potential makeweight for Neymar, with Zinedine Zidane eager to part ways with the Welsh winger.
But, Les Parisiens rejected that offer, which led Madrid to search for different options to persuade PSG to part ways with Neymar. Now, The Times suggests that Luka Modric could be the key to securing a deal. They note that the French side is 'close to accepting' a cash-plus Modric deal, a move that would help Paris to get rid of the controversial Neymar while not sending him to Barcelona.
Previously, a similar offer was already made by Los Blancos. However, that bid was of £112 million plus Modric, if they can get it up to £149 million plus the Croatian, Paris won’t think much before taking it.
Still, something is missing to complete this deal, and that’s Ney’s willingness to join Madrid. It’s not a secret that he wants to join Barcelona, so this move would be even more complicated for Real.
