After Marco Asensio suffered an ACL injury, Real Madrid have been unable to find a proper replacement for the talented winger/attacking midfielder. Although they retained the services of Gareth Bale and James Rodriguez, it looks like none of these players can make the same impact as Asensio.
That’s why the club has gotten to work to find a proper replacement for the Spain international, and they could land a promising winger to fill the void left by Marco. Valencia winger Goncalo Guedes is reportedly eager on making a late move to Real Madrid as Florentino Perez sees him as a potential replacement for the Spaniard.
According to Don Balon, Guedes would cost around €65 million to sign from Real’s La Liga rivals Valencia this summer, in a move that could be very helpful for them.
Guedes has been one of the most promising players in Europe over the last couple of years, but he’s yet to demonstrate all his potential on the field. After a tumultuous stint with Paris Saint-Germain, he joined Valencia, where he’s been showing good things. At an international level, Guedes has shown that he could be great in the future, but he still has things to improve.
Nevertheless, maybe joining a better team could help him fulfill his potential, and that may well be Zinedine Zidane’s Madrid squad. As Don Balon noted, Asensio’s long-term injury for this season means Los Blancos could look for a replacement, and Guedes is a similar style of player.
If he improves his level, he could remain in Madrid for many years to come, as well as becoming a more important player than Gareth Bale. This could be a great signing for Madrid, but it remains to be seen if they go for it. It was reported recently that they had €155 million to spend before the transfer deadline, and they could spend some of that money on Guedes.
