Real Madrid are reportedly ready to land their dreamed midfielder next season, but we’re not talking about Paul Pogba. Even though the Frenchman has been heavily linked with a move to the Santiago Bernabeu in recent times, it looks like Los Blancos have set their sights on a different player and are ready to go to war for his signature.
Madrid are said to be ready to pursue a deal for World Cup-winning midfielder and two-time Premier League champion N’Golo Kante, using a player-plus-cash offer to persuade Chelsea to part ways with the player. Kante is said to represent a ‘dream’ signing for Real coach and compatriot Zinedine Zidane.
According to El Desmarque, Real Madrid are planning to use an out-of-favor player to unlock negotiations with Chelsea. Having in mind that Chelsea value the former Leicester player at €160 million (£139m), Real could offer James Rodriguez in part exchange to lessen the cost, pricing the Colombian at €60 million (£52m). The cash offer for Kante would, therefore, drop to €100m.
This report notes, though, that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich will have the final word on this subject. Another part of the story claims that Kante ‘dreams of wearing white’, as ‘he believes the [Chelsea] project has stalled’, more so after Frank Lampard took the reins of the club and Chelsea's inability to sign players.
Kante has been great ever since he landed in England back in 2015. He’s struggled with injuries so far this season, but that hasn’t changed anything for N’Golo, who remains a big target for some of the biggest clubs in the world, and Real Madrid are one of those.
Luka Modric's career is going downhill right now, so Madrid have started to look for potential replacements for the Croatian playmaker. These Kante rumors follow months of speculation about Manchester United star Paul Pogba, as well as Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen.
