Real Madrid want to bring one more player this summer, but that might not be Paul Pogba or Neymar, two stars who have been on the club’s radar for quite some time now. Nevertheless, Los Blancos are willing to turn their attention to other players should any of these moves don’t come to fruition.
Real are reportedly ready to study their chances to make a move for Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic if they fail to strike a deal for Neymar this summer.
According to Don Balon, Madrid chairman Florentino Perez is unsure about Milinkovic-Savic’s £95 million asking price at Lazio, but he wouldn’t see with bad eyes trying to sign the Serbia international if he’s unable to land his priority target, Neymar.
After a couple of impressive seasons with Lazio, Milinkovic-Savic is ready to take on bigger challenges; he was linked with a move to Manchester United this summer, but that never materialized. Now, he might be on his way to another top club in the form of Madrid, who need a long-term replacement for the 2018 Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric.
If Los Blancos don’t move fast, that would give a great chance to United to steal the midfielder from Lazio. With the Red Devils yet to replace the likes of Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini in midfield, it won’t be a shock if we see them chasing the Serbia international once again.
Besides, the Daily Mirror also claim that Nemanja Matic’s future in Manchester is uncertain after losing his place in the starting XI.
Therefore, if Milinkovic-Savic is still available in January he could be well worth trying for. United will certainly hope Sergej doesn’t move to Madrid this summer, but we still have a couple of days in the transfer window that could see the 24-year-old going to the Santiago Bernabeu.
