Real Madrid are ready to make a huge splash next summer transfer window as they are already linked with big figures around Europe. This time Manchester City’s Raheem Sterling is the player who might be making the move to Madrid.
Los Blancos are reportedly monitoring the situation of Sterling and are weighing up a move for him at the end of the season. This comes as no surprise, given that the team was linked with the English international over the summer and next year they could finally merge.
Sterling has become one of the best players in world football in Manchester City, playing under boss Pep Guardiola, scoring five goals already in just as many Premier League games this season. According to the Athletic, Sterling's representatives were invited for talks at the Bernabeu in the summer with Jose Angel Sanchez, second-in-command to president Florentino Perez.
Real were interested in several Premier League stars this offseason, including Christian Eriksen and Paul Pogba, but it looks like they've put their attention on Sterling.
He is reportedly attracted by the idea of playing for Madrid one day but this won’t be a problem for City right now. He knows he is in the best position to keep developing under Guardiola, so a move to Spain doesn’t seem very plausible for him at this moment.
Even though they signed Eden Hazard from Chelsea last summer, the Belgian star has made little impact in Spain, with the team already looking for alternatives to turn things around. Madrid haven’t had the best start of the season, and fans aren’t happy with the situation.
They are linked with several players who will boost their level, but won’t come as easy as they’d like. We’ll see how things go for Madrid next summer, but if they manage to bring this talented winger, they would be getting one of the best players in his position.
