The Master Plan Of The Brooklyn Nets: Kyrie Irving, Jimmy Butler And Julius Randle

The Brooklyn Nets were one of the most pleasant surprises in the NBA this season, as they found a way to develop a young but strong core and even beat the odds to make it to the playoffs, but still, the lack of veteran leadership was pretty clear there.

Nonetheless, this team proved that they’re just a couple of pieces away from being a legit threat in the Eastern Conference, and they have enough money and assets to make a lot of noise in this upcoming free agency, according to the latest reports.

But, with Kevin Durant out of the picture with a torn Achilles, he’s not likely to be a target for them anymore, so who are they going to pursue in the summer? how could they become the East’s newest Superteam? Let’s take a look:

Julius Randle

Julius Randle

Ever since Julius Randle left the Los Angeles Lakers, he’s done everything to prove Magic Johnson was wrong. He’s a stud, and he’s played like one, and his hustle, grit, and grind in both ends of the hardwood are some of those intangible things all coaches love.

Randle is coming off a career year with the New Orleans Pelicans, where he averaged 21,4 points and 8,7 rebounds on 52% per game and 34% from three, so the Nets must definitely offer him good money in order to pair him with Jarrett Allen to create quite a physical frontcourt.

Jimmy Butler

Ok, the Los Angeles Lakers are definitely going to try and pursue Jimmy Butler, but he’s not exactly a lock to sign with them, especially considering he knows the Western Conference has a way tougher path to the NBA Finals and the Lakers have been a mess all year.

Butler was rumored to be interested in pairing with Kyrie Irving to rule the East, and with Kyrie allegedly close to joining Brooklyn, his dream might as well come true. He’s the rough defender they lacked in the playoffs, and he can definitely take them to the next level.

Kyrie Irving

And, obviously, Kyrie Irving would be the icing on top of the cake for this great project, as he’s fully expected to join the Brooklyn Nets after opting out of the last year of his contract with the Boston Celtics following yet another disappointing exit in the playoffs.

Some people within the Nets organization believe he and D’Angelo Russell could coexist, but even if they don’t, he’ll be a major priority for them in the summer, and could even be open to the possibility of losing Rusell if that gets them Kyrie’s commitment.
