With Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, the Nets are well on their way to being major players in the Eastern Conference. When they return to the court healthy next season, they will (undoubtedly) be a force to be reckoned with.

And while their head coaching position remains vacant, Gerald Brown of Let’s Get Technical recently revealed that they could make a push towards Spurs superstar coach, Gregg Popovich.

Popovich has coached the Sours for decades and, during that time, he has seen unprecedented success with five championships and 1,272 victories in the regular season (and 170 in the playoffs).

The Nets are clearly going all-in on their new regime, and they want Pop at the helm. He is notorious for his brilliant basketball mind, versatile offensive system, and his handling of big-name stars.

With Pop, Durant, Irving, and Jordan, the Nets would be favored to come out of the East, and may even be favored to win the title. But even is coach Pop is open to leaving San Antonio, there is no guarantee he’d come back to the game at all. He’s 71 years old, and whispers about his retirement have been circulating for years.

Nevertheless, we’ll see where he ends up before too long…
