DeMar DeRozan Denies Claims That He Wants To Leave The Spurs With Instagram Post

DeMar DeRozan unintentionally (and without doing anything) set the alarms for the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday after one NBA agent claimed he didn’t like the city and wanted to leave the team as soon as possible. DeRozan landed in Texas in the trade that sent Kawhi Leonard to the Toronto Raptors in 2018 and so far he’s struggled to lead this team to have a playoff run similar to what they had while Leonard was in charge.

One agent told Ben Standig and Mike Vorkunov of The Athletic that DeRozan wanted out of the Spurs and his departure from the team could be happening very soon.

“DeMar doesn’t like San Antonio and doesn’t want to be there. If those guys leave, they land with Dwane Casey in Detroit. That relationship with the former coach is strong. Comes down to money (for VanVleet) and the situation in Toronto is rough with the taxes. VanVleet on the Pistons elevates his status as the number 1-2 guy on a team.”

A couple of hours after the report saw the light, DeRozan replied to it with a curious Instagram video with a scene of the movie ‘Friday,’ starred by Ice Cube.

“Me trying to figure out when I said that sh*t ,” DeRozan wrote in the caption.

DeRozan’s flaws have been more visible during his time with the Spurs. He’s been unable to lead this team to actually compete and fans don’t see him as the guy that will bring a championship to San Antonio once again. A reunion with the Raptors, or at least with his former coach Dwayne Casey could be in the works, but DeRozan has made it clear he doesn’t want to leave Texas.
