Montrezl Harrell Sends Cryptic Tweet, Fans Speculate He Could Be Getting Traded

2 Min Read

With rumors circulating that Lakers big man Montrezl Harrell has been put on the trade block, his future has grown in uncertainty and doubt.

How much longer will he be with the Lakers? Where will he land next? Why was he even made available in the first place?

Amid these questions, one wordless tweet by Trez only spared further mystery online, as fans and analysts alike braced for some news.

For most Lakers fans, though, the thought of Trez being sent packing isn’t something they welcome…

Trez signed with the Lakers during the 2020 offseason and has done a decent job playing his role. This season, he’s averaging 14.7 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game on 64.1% shooting.

But for the Lakers, is he the type of player they really need? Without Dwight Howard or JaVale McGee, the Purple and Gold are missing a rather key piece of the equation that helped them win a season ago: a traditional rim protector.

While Harrell is good on offense, he’s notoriously bad at defense, and 36-year-old Marc Gasol hasn’t really made up for it, either.

If the Lakers decide they need to mix up their roster, it seems like Trez could be one of the first to go, and it seems even he might be aware of that.
