After announcing the MVP last week, the NBA announced the All-Rookie teams for the ongoing 2022-23 season, and Paolo Banchero unsurprisingly headlined the list.

Also joining the Orlando Magic star was Keegan Murray (Sacramento Kings), Jalen Williams (OKC), Walker Kessler (Utah Jazz), and Benedict Mathurin (Indiana Pacers).

The All-Rookie second team had Jalen Duren (Detroit Pistons), Tari Eason (Houston Rockets), Jaden Ivey (Detroit Pistons), Jabari Smith Jr. (Houston Rockets), and Jeremy Sochan (San Antonio Spurs).

Banchero’s breakout season made him a near-unanimous choice as the forward averaged 20.0 points and 6.9 rebounds in the 72 games he played this season for the Magic.

Murray averaged 12.2 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 1.2 assists for the Kings in their impressive season. Williams was also the other name who was thoroughly solid, averaging 14.1 points and 4.5 rebounds.

Paolo Banchero’s Breakout Year Continues

It was that kind of season every rookie would dream of in their maiden NBA stint, and Banchero lived his with a stellar run for Orlando. His scintillating performances saw him named as Rookie of the Year earlier this season.

Banchero was the lone bright spot for the Magic in their below-par season. They ended 34-48 and failed to make the playoffs. The forward led on the scoring front, with Franz Wagner and Wendell Carter Jr. at second and third, respectively.

All eyes will now be on the prolific player as he gears up for what will be an important season for the Magic going forward. For now, this was a thoroughly deserved accolade.
