Kyrie Irving has not yet played for the Brooklyn Nets this season due to his refusal to get vaccinated for COVID-19, which prevents him from playing due to New York City laws. The Brooklyn Nets have done well in his absence, but they’d be an even better team if Kyrie Irving were able to play.
Many have weighed in about Kyrie Irving’s decision. Some, such as Shaquille O’Neal believe that the Brooklyn Nets should trade him if he refuses to get vaccinated and play full-time for the team.
The most recent person to opine on the situation is Spencer Dinwiddie, Kyrie Irving’s former teammate. Dinwiddie stated that “everybody has their own decision to make” and that he isn’t the “man to judge at all”.

It is clear that Kyrie Irving has made his choice as of now, and we’ll see if his stance changes in the future. It would definitely be interesting if he is eventually able to play, as that would make the Brooklyn Nets the title favorites once again, as they’d have 3 top-tier stars. Few teams are able to compete with that version of the Nets.
Hopefully, the Brooklyn Nets and Kyrie Irving can figure out this situation at some point in the future. It would be great to watch Kyrie Irving play, as he is an artist on the court and an elite isolation scorer. Essentially, he is a box-office player that dazzles with his mastery of basketball. Perhaps we’ll see Kyrie Irving play later this seaosn, but as of now, that seems unlikely.
