Bleacher Report

Kyrie Irving is a player that is no stranger to being in the middle of controversy. Irving’s a great basketball player, but it seems as though he can’t escape criticism for the things that he does off the court.

The most recent situation that involves Kyrie Irving involves his vaccination status. Due to New York laws on COVID-19, there’s a possibility that Kyrie Irving would have to miss his home games for the Brooklyn Nets. Kyrie Irving notably refused to discuss his vaccination status, citing his privacy.

NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal has recently stated that the Brooklyn Nets should trade Kyrie Irving if he refuses to get vaccinated and play in home games. O’Neal claims that if Irving was his teammate, he’d go to the front office and tell them to get Irving “out of here”.

I would go upstairs and say “get him up out of here”. Get him up out of here. We can win with a two punch, and a great shooter, and some rebounders like we got.

Get his a** up out of here. Cause now everyday, I’m gonna have to answer questions about him and what he’s doing. Get his a** up out of here.

You asked me if I was on the team? Of course, if I played with him I’d be in charge. All the way, all day… Whoever owns the Brooklyn Nets, get him up out of here.

While trading an All-Star such as Kyrie Irving would generally get you a good return, with the latest developments, it may be easier said than done. According to some NBA teams, Kyrie Irving’s trade value is “virtually zero”.

It remains to be seen if the Brooklyn Nets will end up moving him, though it must be said that the team has given no indication that they’re pursuing that route. Kyrie Irving is a spectacular talent, and there’s no question that he can get fans in the seats. Hopefully, there is a resolution to Kyrie Irving’s situation in the future.
