Steve Kerr On How Much Attention Scouts Gave Him In High School: “Very Little, About The Same Attention I Was Getting From Girls In High School.”

2 Min Read

Steve Kerr is one of the funniest members of the NBA community. The Golden State Warriors head coach has always been a cool guy who tries to make everybody laugh (although that doesn’t work with Chris Paul), and he’s not stopping anytime soon.

He has always kept it real and has the talent of making fun of himself. The former guard didn’t have the easiest opportunity to make it to the NBA and had to fight hard to earn his spot in the association.

Not even college was easy for him, as he revealed on the award-winning docu-series ‘The Last Dance.’ The 5x NBA champion talked about his struggles to get into college, and the little attention he received from scouts, which equaled the one he got from girls in high school.

“Very little [attention from scouts]. About the same attention I was getting from girls in high school. So not many girls, not many college recruiters,” Kerr told during his interview for the Chicago Bulls, Michael Jordan’s documentary.

In the end, Kerr played for the University of Arizona, where he graduated with a Bachelor of General Studies with emphasis on history, sociology and English.

On the court, he set an NCAA record for 3-point percentage in a season (114–199, 57.3%). In his final season with the Wildcats, Kerr helped them reach the NCAA tournament’s Final Four.

After making it to the NBA, Kerr kept fighting by becoming one of the best 3-point shooters of all time. He was a winner since day one, collecting five titles during his career as a player. After that, he added three more rings as a head coach by taking the Golden State Warriors to five NBA Finals.

It seems like he did pretty well in life and all the ladies that ignored him in high school could be thinking what would have happened if they paid attention to that basketball kid.
