Over 19 minutes of action, Green failed to score a single point, grab a rebound, or record an assist, marking one of the most forgettable performances of his career. Poole, now with the Washington Wizards, liked an Instagram post that highlighted Green’s poor performance, fueling speculation of lingering tension between the two former teammates.

This interaction between Poole and Green has reignited discussions about their tumultuous history, particularly the infamous preseason altercation two years ago when Green punched Poole during practice.

While the two tried to coexist for a season following the incident, the relationship was evidently fractured. Golden State’s decision to trade Poole to the Wizards last summer was widely interpreted as a move to maintain locker room harmony and keep Green as a core piece of the franchise.

Draymond Green’s performance against the Grizzlies was historically bad. In 19 minutes, he became the first player in NBA history to record a minus-42 plus-minus while failing to score, rebound, or assist in under 20 minutes of play. The only stat Green registered was a single steal, while committing four turnovers and four fouls. His struggles were emblematic of a Warriors team that was thoroughly outplayed by the Grizzlies, trailing 37-15 at the end of the first quarter and never recovering.

The game also served as a reminder of the unique challenges of Green’s playstyle. As a low-usage player whose contributions often don’t appear on the stat sheet, Green is vulnerable to such nights. However, his stature as a team leader and defensive anchor guarantees him playing time, making the zero-zero-zero line all the more glaring.

Poole’s decision to like the Instagram post mocking Green’s stat line did not go unnoticed by fans and media alike. Many saw it as a pointed jab at his former teammate, reigniting their long-standing issues. Given their history, the interaction added another layer of intrigue to what has become one of the NBA’s most notable modern feuds.

The Warriors recently defeated the Wizards 125-112, but the game was highlighted by a series of taunts exchanged between former teammates Draymond Green and Jordan Poole. Green and Poole’s history includes the infamous 2022 practice altercation where Green punched Poole, leading to Poole’s eventual trade to the Wizards in 2023.

Their rivalry resurfaced during this game, with Poole pointing at Green after hitting a three-pointer and Green returning the favor after Stephen Curry drained a three over Poole.

While Poole continues to carve out his role with the Wizards, Green remains a cornerstone of the Warriors, albeit one now under scrutiny for both his on-court performance and off-court antics.

As the season progresses, the lingering drama between these two players serves as a reminder of the interpersonal challenges teams face in maintaining chemistry, even at the highest levels of professional basketball. Whether intentional or not, Poole’s social media activity added another chapter to their complicated saga.
