The Dallas Mavericks beat the Boston Celtics 122-84, in what was a dominant Game 4 performance from Jason Kidd’s men. This 38-point blowout victory became the third-largest victory in NBA Finals history. The Mavericks now sit behind the 1998 Bulls, who beat the Jazz by 42 points in Game 3, and the 2008 Celtics, who beat the Lakers by 39 points In Game 6 to close out the series and win the NBA championship.

At one point, the Mavericks led the Celtics by 48 points, with 5:58 remaining in the fourth quarter, with a 115-67 lead. This lead is the biggest lead in an NBA Finals game in 50 years. The Mavs will hope that this performance is a sign of things to come and that the Celtics are rattled by such a dominant showing.

It was an incredible showing from the Mavericks, who had their backs against the wall coming into the game. They needed to have a good showing in order to keep their championship hopes alive. But even the most optimistic Mavericks fan wouldn’t have expected their team to dominate like they did.

Luka Doncic responded to his poor performance in Game 3 in a big way, as he put up 29 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, and 3 steals to help lead his team to victory. Even though Doncic had an uncharacteristically poor shooting night from the three-point line, going 0-8, his scoring and his defensive presence proved to be crucial for the Mavericks.

Not far behind Luka was Kyrie Irving, who put up 21 points, 4 rebounds, and 6 assists to back Doncic up. Irving stepped up in a big way, something he hadn’t done in the series so far.

Poor Showing From Jayson Tatum And Celtics On The Road

Jayson Tatum also made history tonight, but not in the way he would have hoped. Tatum ended the game with 15 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 2 steals, and 1 block. But his plus/minus from the game was -33, the worst-ever single-game plus/minus in NBA Finals history.

Tatum and the Celtics cannot panic going forward, as it will give the Mavs a chance to capitalize and come back in this series. The Celtics will be back at the T.D. Garden for Game 5, and will want to close out the series there to avoid any chance of a comeback from the Mavericks.

Tatum has been really poor in the NBA Finals so far, despite his good numbers. His shooting percentage is cause for concern, as he is shooting just 36.5% from the field and 29.0% from the three-point line. As things stand, Tatum is behind his teammate Jalen Brown in the running for NBA Finals MVP, should the Celtics win the title.

It will be a tense Game 5 at T.D. Garden, as a raucous Celtics fanbase will try to spur their team on to victory and squash any hopes of a comeback. But the Mavericks may have found their fight tonight and figured out the Celtics. Game 5 will certainly be an interesting watch, and we will be here to provide all the coverage on Monday night.
