Fat Joe Trolls Joel Embiid After Dapping Him Up During Game 5: “My Fist Stinks A Little… Smells Dirty”

New York Knicks superfan Fat Joe was in attendance for Game 5 between the Knicks and 76ers, sitting courtside for what ended up being an OT Philly win. Joe dapped Joel Embiid up during the game and shared a bizarre video talking about how Joel’s hand smells bad after touching him.

“Let’s go Knickerbockers. Let me tell you something, my fist stinks a little because Joel Embiid just walked by and gave me a dap. My sh*t smell a little, it smells dirty.”

Was this supposed to be funny? Either Joe was trolling on the internet for clicks or he is actually surprised that a man playing basketball and actively sweating would carry a bad odor. Regardless, we shouldn’t assume the meaning of jokes like this but Joe sharing this video was corny and disrespectful.

Embiid couldn’t respond to his haters by delivering a classic performance tonight, with Tyrese Maxey stealing the headlines of the 112-106 OT win. Embiid struggled, putting up an inefficient triple-double with 19 points, 16 rebounds, 10 assists, and nine turnovers. He shot 7-19 from the field but had crucial defensive contributions down the stretch, ending the night with four blocks as well.

Thankfully, Maxey’s 46 points gave them the scoring they needed to stave off elimination and force a Game 6 in Philadelphia.

Joel Embiid Will Hope The Philadelphia Crowd Delivers Good Energy

With the series heading back to Philadelphia for Game 6, the 76ers will be counting on their crowd to provide an environment where the team is motivated to push the series to a decisive Game 7. Embiid criticized the local 76ers’ fans heavily after Game 4 due to the support traveling Knicks fans brought to the Wells Fargo Center.

“I love our fans. I think it’s unfortunate, and I’m not calling them out, it’s disappointing. Obviously, a lot of Knicks fans are down the road. I’ve never seen it and I’ve been here for 10 years. It kind of pisses me off, especially because Philly is considered a sports town, they’ve always shown up. I don’t think that should happen.”

The 76ers are known to have a fierce home crowd, with the team having had seasons where they were virtually unstoppable in their home arena. But if there’s a fanbase that’s even louder and rowdy than Philly fans, it’s Knicks fans. Given the high price of tickets at Madison Square Garden, it’s plausible that thousands of Knicks fans are taking the road journey to Philly and watching the games in their home arena instead.

Embiid is averaging 31.8 points, 10.4 rebounds, and 6.4 assists this series, playing through injury and a mild case of Bell’s Palsy. He won’t get much credit for his toughness because of his dirty play throughout the series, with countless videos of Embiid committing hard and dirty fouls or flopping for calls, upsetting fans across the league.

Game 5 was a night he’ll be disappointed with despite his all-around excellence. Maxey can’t go for 46 points every game, so Embiid needs to provide the scoring punch everyone knows he can provide to give the 76ers a chance at winning this series after trailing 3-1.
