  • Joel Embiid reacted to all the star movement that happened this summer
  • The Philadelphia 76ers have not been active in the trade market
  • The superstar could request a trade in the future

This summer, we have seen a lot of star movement across the entire league. The Phoenix Suns kicked everything off, trading for shooting guard Bradley Beal and forming arguably the best big 3 in the entire league. The Milwaukee Bucks arguably made a move for the best player on the trade market, acquiring superstar Damian Lillard to pair with Giannis Antetokounmpo. Lastly, the Boston Celtics executed two consolidation trades, moving most of their depth to acquire Kristaps Porzingis and Jrue Holiday.

This was absolutely a wild summer, even by NBA standards. But a lot of movement was to be expected, as it seemed as though the entire league wanted to get better and try to compete. Recently, Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid shared his reaction to all the moves in a post on X (formerly Twitter).

“This off-season was fun lmao”

The Philadelphia 76ers largely stood pat this offseason. The team has not yet traded away guard James Harden, who wants to leave the franchise. However, they did make a solid free agency acquisition, signing Kelly Oubre Jr., who should enjoy a big role on the team and provide them with a two-way wing. Last season, Oubre Jr. averaged 20.2 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 1.4 steals per game. However, he was inefficient in doing so, only shooting 43.1% from the field and 31.9% from the 3PT range.

Hopefully, we see the Philadelphia 76ers make some sort of move to get better in the near future. The team risks getting left behind in a tough Eastern Conference, and it is clear that they need to figure out a way to add more talent to the roster and get Joel Embiid some help.

Joel Embiid’s Last Chance With The 76ers

This season could be Joel Embiid’s last chance with the Philadelphia 76ers. Though part of this is not his fault, the team has never gotten past the second round with Joel Embiid at the helm. In fact, as of right now, Joel Embiid is the only MVP in NBA history to never make the Conference Finals.

Perhaps we will see things change for the 76ers next season. They still have a good amount of talent on the roster, even if James Harden doesn’t play. If they can flip him for some pieces, the squad could become a dark horse in the Eastern Conference.

Ultimately though, it seems as though the clock is ticking on Joel Embiid’s time in Philadelphia. The team needs to produce results sooner rather than later, or the front office might feel the need to blow up this iteration of the squad.

Joel Embiid Could Leave Philadelphia

Even if the franchise decides to hold onto Joel Embiid after this season, there is a chance that the superstar could ask for a trade. Consistent playoff failures take a toll on anyone, and Embiid could decide that he has a better chance to compete elsewhere.

If Joel Embiid were to request a trade, the New York Knicks could be a major player in the trade talks. In fact, it was recently revealed that an Embiid trade to the Knicks is a major possibility, and the superstar already owns a house in New York.

There could be other teams that end up being in the mix for Joel Embiid if he were to request a trade. Any team would love to have a superstar of his caliber, and he is a legitimate franchise-changing talent.

It remains to be seen if Joel Embiid does end up requesting a trade in the future. As of right now, the superstar seems content staying on the 76ers, but things can change really quickly in the NBA.
