NBA legend Dwyane Wade isn’t on the court to remind everyone of how great he was, but he still sometimes shows up to defend his honor when it’s threatened by the doubters. Recently, it was Paul Pierce who alerted Wade’s attention after he claimed to have a better career than the 3x champion.

“Put Shaq on my team, put LeBron and Bosh with me. I’m not going to win one? You don’t think,” asked Pierce on the ‘It Is What It Is’ podcast. While “The Truth” makes some solid points, Wade effectively dropped the mic when he responded on the Dan Le Batard Show:

“Rent is expensive and I’m living rent-free right now so, let him keep going. It’s documented, I don’t need to say anything, everything is documented so I’ll let you guys (the media) talk about that stuff. It sounds better coming from y’all then me. I’m done playing the game of basketball, I’m not comparing myself to people who play the game… or don’t play the game. I went and got my Avengers…”

The haters will point to Wade’s title teams and claim it was impossible to lose given all the talent he played with. But nothing is given in the NBA, and you can’t blame Wade for finding success in the situation he was in.

Regarding who had the better career overall, the numbers should settle that debate easily…

Paul Pierce Is Wrong For Ranking Himself Over Wade

There is no question that Pierce is one of the best wing players of his generation, but Wade is on a whole other level. As a 13x All-Star, 8x All-NBA player, and 3x champion, Dwyane has the edge in almost every accolade and is also ahead in career points per game, assists per game, and field goal percentage.

As good as Paul Pierce was during his glory days in Boston, he was no match for Dwyane Wade, who was better in almost everything but long-distance shooting. So, unfortunately for the Truth, the best course of action for him might be to sit back and analyze the game from afar instead of resurfacing old rivalries.
