Draymond Green punched Jordan Poole during a Warriors practice session in the summer of 2022. While the Dubs initially tried to cover things up, the spat left an unfixable impact on the team’s chemistry.

The Warriors struggled to find chemistry throughout the season. Speaking of Poole, the organization recently traded him to the Washington Wizards in exchange for Chris Paul. Poole unfollowed Draymond Green on Instagram shortly after the announcement.

A couple of weeks ago, the Warriors believed Jordan Poole and Draymond Green could have coexisted together on the team for the upcoming season. But that theory has been put to rest following Poole’s trade to the Wizards.

As for Draymond, he recently opted out of his $27.6 million player option to become an unrestricted free agent this summer. Was all this a plot by Green to get Poole out of the team? There’s no way for us to tell.

Jordan Poole Was Backstabbed By New Warriors GM Mike Dunleavy Jr.

Jordan Poole was touted to become the face of the franchise after the end of the Stephen Curry era. But Poole had an underwhelming 2023 postseason run where he averaged just 10.3 PPG, 2.2 RPG, and 3.5 APG while shooting 34.1% from the field and 25.4% from downtown.

Despite that, new Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. promised that the organization would keep Poole on the team for four more years.

“We wanna have those guys here, Jordan [Poole] especially, with his contract extension,” Dunleavy Jr. said. “We plan to have him here for four more years at least, and Jonathan [Kuminga], he’s shown good progression and growth in his two years here… Both those guys are really good young players.”

Just days after making this statement, Dunleavy Jr. shipped off Poole to the Wizards in exchange for a 38-year-old Chris Paul. It’s no knock on what Paul has achieved during his NBA career, trading for him at this stage in his career seems bizarre.

The Warrior Nation is worried about letting Poole go. It could turn out to be a costly mistake for the new Dubs GM. After all, Poole still averaged 20.4 PPG, 2.7 RPG, and 4.5 APG during the 2022-23 regular season.
