Iman Shumpert and JR Smith shared many great memories during their stint together with the Cleveland Cavaliers. The players were important for the Cavaliers, that played in multiple Finals and won the championship.
During their time together, the two guards lived big moments and were impressed by each other more than once. During an appearance on “IMAN AMONGST MEN,” Shumpert recalled the time Smith drank a bottle of Pepsi and still gave the business to the Boston Celtics (13:25 mark).
“I watched this man drink a Pepsi and give 30 on Boston. I’m drinking all this water, salt tablets, Gatorade, so I could be in mode. [Shumpert imitates the sound of a Pepsi] and gave y’all a 16 in the second half. I was blue.”
Shumpert and Smith created a dynamic duo that still lasts to this day. They played together on the New York Knicks and then on the Cleveland Cavaliers, being part of the best era in Cleveland basketball.
LeBron James benefited from having these two guys on the roster, although he didn’t have the best time with Smith in the 2018 NBA Finals. The two guards were really funny and entertaining during their time together, and even after going out of the league, they remain a terrific duo.
Shumpert And Smith Became Champions Together In 2016
Shumpert and Smith were a part of that 2016 championship run that ended up with a magical 3-1 comeback against the Golden State Warriors. Shumpert recently talked about how Kyrie Irving stepped up for the Cavs, asked for the ball, and made sure to win Game 7 of the 2016 Finals.
Smith didn’t have the same impact two years later, starring in one of the biggest blunders in the NBA in recent years. Smith blamed everybody but him for that costly mistake, but there’s nothing he or the rest of the Cavaliers can do to change the outcome of that infamous Game 1 and the entire series.
