Still fresh off winning the NBA championship, the Denver Nuggets aren’t expected to undergo any major roster changes before next season. With Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, and Aaron Gordon., the Nuggets have found a solid core of veterans that they know can go all the way. Of course, depth was as important as anything else for Denver’s title run, and players like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope and Bruce Brown stepped also stepped up to make a big difference.
Sadly, as much as the Nuggets would like to run it back, the NBA is a business, and the players are going to do whatever benefits their own careers in the long run. In the case of Bruce Brown, who is set to be an unrestricted free agent this season, reports indicate he’s actually not likely to re-sign in Denver this summer.
“The Denver Nuggets are very likely to lose Bruce Brown in free agency, he declined his team option today,” said Adrian Wojnarowski on the Pat McAfee show. “Malone is going to be aggressive trying to pull at the heartstrings of Bruce Brown but Bruce Brown is in a position to make a lot more money as a free agent than the Nuggets are allowed to offer him. That’s gonna be the challenge.”

Brown is no All-Star, but he’s a solid two-way wing who averaged 11.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game on 48.3% shooting. He was crucial for the Nuggets all year long, not only as an offensive shotmaker but also as a quality defender who can guard some of the NBA’s best perimeter players.
Losing Brown without a suitable replacement would obviously be a massive blow to the Nuggets, who are aiming to repeat as champions and win a second title in the franchise’s history.
Will The Nuggets Win The 2024 Championship?
It remains to be seen what kind of moves the Nuggets will make this summer, but it’s no secret that the NBA moves fast. Already, we’ve seen at least one team in the West make a significant trade, and it’s only a matter of time before some other team follows suit. For the Nuggets to keep up, and keep their place at the top, they cannot afford to stand PAT and take it easy in the offseason.
As long as they hold onto Jokic and Murray, the Nuggets will be able to compete with the best, but only by being one step ahead of the competition will the Nuggets be able to string together another title run.
The Nuggets will find out soon that they are the hunted now, and every team in the league will be bringing their best every night.
