Big man Karl-Anthony Towns is the longest-tenured player on the Minnesota Timberwolves, and he is well-known for his 3PT shooting ability. When it comes to shooting specifically, it is fair to say that he is the best big man in this regard.
There’s no doubt that Karl-Anthony Towns is part of a unique trend of big men having perimeter skills. In fact, on a recent appearance on the Pat Bev Podcast, Towns claimed that when he’s retired, people will say he changed the game. Draymond Green roasted the big man for saying that, jokingly asking Patrick Beverley if people who come on his podcast change the game.
Karl-Anthony Towns: “When my time is up and I retire… There’s gonna be people who are gonna say I changed the game.”
Draymond Green: “Aye Pat Bev, when people come on your show they change the game?! I’m looking forward to it man.”
aye @patbev21 when people come on yo show they change the game!!l?!? 🤯🤯🤯 I’m looking forward to it man https://t.co/qZGomrFBfH

Though there’s no doubt that Karl-Anthony Towns has a unique skill set, it is a stretch to say that he changed the game. However, he was definitely one of the players that showed that big men don’t always have to play in the post to be successful.
This season, Karl-Anthony Towns averaged 20.8 PPG, 8.1 RPG, and 4.8 APG for the Minnesota Timberwolves while shooting 36.6% from 3PT range. He is clearly a star-level player when healthy, and we’ll see how he does next season.
Karl-Anthony Towns Could Get Traded This Offseason
Even though Karl-Anthony Towns is a unique talent and a Timberwolves legend, it is quite possible that the franchise will be forced to trade him due to prohibitive new CBA rules. In fact, some executives believe that he will be traded this offseason.
“Other competing executives think Karl-Anthony Towns will be long gone ahead of the 2024-25 campaign.”
“Some even believe Minnesota would jump at an opportunity in the next few weeks.”
It will be interesting to see if Karl-Anthony Towns will indeed get traded in the future. It is difficult to imagine them getting a player of his talent in return, but if their goal is to build around Anthony Edwards, then trading Towns could be a realistic pathway to improvement.
