Bob Myers Reveals Interesting Reason Behind His Warriors Exit

With Warriors legend Bob Myers set to step down from his role as GM and President of Basketball Operations, it truly feels like the end of an era for the Golden State Warriors. The Dubs still have the same championship core, obviously, but the departure of the guy who helped to build it all is certainly a gut punch to what was already going to be a complicated offseason.

As far as what we know about Myers’ departure, it’s not a move we didn’t see coming. After he failed to negotiate an extension with the team, it became obvious that his future with the franchise was no longer secure. According to Myers, the biggest reason for leaving now is that he’s apparently no longer fully committed to the role.

“I have too many different emotions that I’m still processing. But the bottom line is that this job the one I’m in, requires complete engagement and complete effort. If you can’t do it, then you shouldn’t do it and so that’s the answer. I can’t do that to our players, I can’t do that to Joe. I really can’t do it to myself and that’s a question I’ve been wrestling with… I’ve only known how to do things one way my whole life and it doesn’t feel right to do something when I can’t give it my everything.”

Bob Myers said the “answer to the question why” he is leaving the Warriors is because he doesn’t still feel like he can give the full effort/engagement needed for the job. pic.twitter.com/7QoioOUBwh

Bob Myers is widely considered one of the top executives in the business, and he gets a lot of credit for assembling and maintaining the Warriors dynasty. But all good things must come to an end, and Myers is likely the first in a long line of change for Dub Nation.

In just a few months, the Warriors will have to make some tough decisions on the future of the team and who deserves to stay, given the circumstances of their latest defeat. Myers will not be part of those decisions for now, and one has to wonder how it will impact their success going forward.

What’s Next For The Warriors?

The biggest thing for Golden State is keeping the big three together, but the departure of Myers really puts everything into question and nobody can say for sure that guys like Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and Jordan Poole will be with the team heading into next season.

For now, all we can do is watch and wait to see how this story unfolds and if the Warriors can keep the dynasty going despite a major blow to their inner circle.
