“It’s just time,” Myers said, according to NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski who broke the news earlier on Tuesday.

Bob Myers is officially stepping down as the Golden State Warriors GM.

The development was reported by NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, who in his tweet said: “BREAKING: Golden State’s Bob Myers – a two-time executive of the year and architect of four NBA championships — is stepping down as the franchise’s president and general manager, he told ESPN on Tuesday. “It’s just time,” Myers said.”

This comes on the back of Marc Stein’s report earlier, where he said Myers’ departure would come as early as Tuesday, and on point, the Warriors GM called him on his illustrious career with Golden State.

“It’s believed that Myers doesn’t want to sit down at an interview podium until his decision about staying with the Warriors or walking away from his post is both made and ready to be shared with the public.”

He further added that the announcement would happen in the first half of the week. “We could have clarity as early as Tuesday or Wednesday since Myers is expected to convene soon with Bay Area reporters who regularly cover the team. My prediction as of the weekend: I think this is it. I sense Myers is poised to walk away from the lucrative offer Warriors owner Joe Lacob has put on the table.

Myers has enjoyed a decorated run with the franchise after he was hired as their Assistant GM in 2011. However, he succeeded Larry Riley as the GM just a year later.

As far as his list of achievements goes, the Warriors had the best postseason run under him in 2012-13 after a solid NBA 2012 Draft.

His brilliant decision-making saw him named NBA Executive of the Year after the 2014-15 season. His calls of hiring Steve Kerr as the Warriors coach and signing Klay Thompson to an extension were regarded as some of the best moves, for which the franchise has reaped benefits to date. Under his tenure, Golden State won the 2015 NBA Finals and went on to win three more championships in 2017, 2018, and 2022.

The rumored replacement is Mike Dunleavy Jr., a former player, and the present assistant GM. There are no official announcements made yet.
