Blockbuster trades in the NBA aren’t exactly a novelty, but when they do happen, it causes quite the buzz in the circuit, and now Giannis Antetokounmpo stirred the trade pot a little when answering a fan query on social media.
Responding to a fan who asked him to join the Golden State Warriors in the upcoming season, the Milwaukee Bucks star had a funny and teasing smile on his face as he mouthed “Aye” a few times with a cheeky smile.

This isn’t the first time Giannis has been linked to the Warriors. In 2020, NBC Sports published a rumor piece about the possibility of the forward joining Golden State.
“It is well known that owner Joe Lacob always is looking ahead to the future. While the Warriors certainly were lucky that the salary cap spiked in 2016 right when Kevin Durant became a free agent, the franchise had to put itself in a position to attract someone of his [Antetokounmpo] magnitude.”
As things stand, Giannis has a five-year, $228 million supermax extension which he signed with the Bucks in 2020. His extension also includes a $51.9 million player option for the 2025-26 season, while giving the superstar a chance of being an unrestricted free agent after the 2024-25 season.
In what comes as an interesting read, our very own Eddie Bitar proposed a theory that would send Giannis to the Warriors to help them create the ultimate superteam.
It’s unlikely that this trade would happen, and even if does, the Warriors will need to trade away a chunk of their assets. But this is the NBA, one can never say never.
Giannis Antetokounmpo Doesn’t Believe The Milwaukee Bucks’ 2022-23 Season Was A Failure
Despite being knocked out of the first round of the playoffs by the Miami Heat, Giannis firmly stressed that the Bucks’ season was not a failure. He said just as much in his “failure speech” that went viral.
“It’s not a failure, it’s steps to success,” he said. “There’s always steps to it. Michael Jordan played for 15 years and won six championships. The other nine years was a failure? There’s no failure in sports. There are good days, bad days. Some days you are able to be successful, some days you’re not. … That’s what sports is about. You don’t always win.”
In the aftermath of their crashing out, the Bucks fired head coach Mike Budenholzer and are now on the lookout for a new coach who could spearhead the side to another championship. And safe to say, Giannis is looking to stay put in Milwaukee for now. It remains to be seen if the Bucks’ new coach can weave some magic.
