The Jordan family is akin to NBA royalty at this point, even decades after MJ’s original run with the Chicago Bulls. Today, Michael is mostly out of the public eye, with the exception of rare interviews of golf matches that he seems to love so much.

But for a guy with so much historical significance in the sports world, MJ’s family has been surprisingly hands-off when it comes to the public spotlight. In a post on Instagram, MJ’s daughter, Jasmine, revealed why she prefers the quiet life and where she puts her energy now that her dad is out of the NBA.

“My legacy first and foremost is to be the best mother I can possibly be to my son! Then, continue to pave the way for women in the sports industry! Making big moves!”

Jordan is a grandfather now, and he has embraced this lifestyle to the fullest. Instead of competing in endless games like he used to, Mike is a family man who devotes much of his days to spending time with those he loves the most.

“He’s so soft. He’s super-involved,” said Jasmine on Michael’s role as a grandfather, via Andscape. “And my son has him wrapped around his finger. It took him a minute to actually understand like, ‘Dang, I’m a grandpa.’ He never wants to feel like he’s old, but he is a grandpa, and he loves it. He loves playing with his grandson and it’s something that I think he never knew he was gonna love as much as he does.”

It Was Hard Being MJ’s Child Growing Up

While Jasmine seems to be embracing her lineage now, it may not have always been that way. Back when she was still in school, her experience was wildly different than most students, and she says the whispers and gossip never stopped.

“Initially, it was a little tough, because there was no hiding that I was Michael Jordan’s daughter,” she said. “Everyone just stared, whispered, and had side conversations about me. There was a lot of trying to figure out why was I there. I also had a hard time right before college. I tweeted that I was going to Syracuse University, and at that time I didn’t have that many followers so I didn’t think much of it. A local media outlet picked up my tweet and ran it as if it were an interview, and I was pissed!”

If you ever had doubts about Jordan’s popularity, just know that he’s still one of the world’s most recognizable athletes, and his amazing run in the 90s will never be forgotten.

Today, a lot has changed, and MJ is a different man with different priorities. Even still, the Jordan family continues to find success in all walks of life.
