Even in the offseason, Ja Morant is finding out how ruthless the NBA community can be. It was only for a second that Ja Morant’s gun was visible on Instagram Live, but it was enough to get exposed in front of the whole world, and now he finds himself in hot water once again, just like he was months ago when he flashed his gun the first time. While no harm has been done, it’s not a good look for an NBA superstar to be waving around a gun like it’s some kind of prop, and it sends the wrong message to the thousands of kids around the world who look up to him as a leader and role model.

Needless to say, Ja is going viral for this mistake, and he’s hearing critics from all sides go off on him for being reckless enough to get caught in the same situation he apologized for back in March. Speaking on NBA Countdown, ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith let loose on the Grizzlies superstar for his failure to learn from past mistakes.

“It’s his second gun issue. Why are you walking around with a gun in broad daylight? What kind of life are you living? Who are you hanging around? What are you subjecting yourself to that you’ve got to worry about what the hell is going on in your life? These are legitimate questions to be asked. It doesn’t make us the villain, we’re trying to look out… he just doesn’t want to listen. And I find it more than a bit coincidental that the not listening part has kicked in after you got five years, potentially $231 million.”

From an outsider’s perspective, it looks like Morant is armed at all times and he seems to enjoy using it like a prop despite the risks involved.

Ja Is Facing Serious Backlash

The problem for no. 12 is that this isn’t his first incident like this. In fact, Morant has been mixed up in all kinds of drama — from making threats at Foot Locker employees to fixing a laser pointer at opposing players.

Alone, those actions might not mean a whole lot, but when you add these things together, it paints a picture of Morant that is less than flattering, and it has seriously damaged his reputation.
