After sending home the defending champions, the Los Angeles Lakers are feeling pretty good about where they stand. With just eight wins to go until the championship, the path to victory is within sight for the Purple and Gold.
And for veteran guard Dennis Schroder, he’s making sure to relish every moment of his success. In fact, after the game, he made sure to post on Instagram to celebrate the occasion and it earned a message of encouragement from Draymond Green.
“Much love and respect for you bro,” wrote Dray. “Change the series! Go finish the job.”

Schroder was first picked up by the Lakers in 2020, after their run to the championship. He played well for the team back then, averaging 15 points per game and playing his way into a contract offer from the team. He famously turned down that offer and was forced to accept a minimum deal with the Celtics months later.
Eventually, Schroder found his way back with the Purple and Gold, and this time things are going even better. Alongside LeBron and Anthony Davis, Schroder has stepped up as a featured perimeter threat and he has become a major part of Darvin Ham’s rotation.
What’s Next For The Lakers After Sending The Warriors Home?
There is no denying that the Lakers are already thinking ahead to Game 1 on Sunday. While maybe not the most important game of the series, starting the series with a win can be effective in setting the tone and sending a message early on.
Up next for the Lakers will be the Denver Nuggets, which may be their toughest challenge yet. As hard as it was to beat Steph, Klay, and Draymond Green, the Lakers’ margin for error will be almost nonexistent against Nikola Jokic and the path to victory will not be easy.
Dennis Schroder’s shooting will be needed, of course, but the health of LeBron and AD will also be crucial in deciding their fate.
