Going into this series against the Denver Nuggets,  nobody was giving the Minnesota Timberwolves a chance to make the second round. So when they went down 0-3 in the first three games, nobody was hopeful for a miraculous comeback.

Still, Anthony Edwards fought like hell to keep the season alive on Sunday, and his 34-point, 6-rebound performance was enough to stave off elimination for now. Speaking after the Game 4 win, Edwards spoke to the media and explained his relief about avoiding a sweep.

“It’s 3-0, you gotta win one more game before you send us home,” said Ant. “I was just telling the truth, they still gotta win one more and we got a chance to win another game and come back to Minnesota. So, I take pride in — I didn’t want to say I got swept. I don’t ever wanna say I got swept in my career. I definitely took it personally tonight.”

After losing Game 3, Edwards could be heard in the locker room trying to keep his teammates’ spirits up and re-instill a sense of confidence in the group.

“This series is not over,” Edwards said, via Jon Krawczynski of The Athletic. “It’s the first to four, not to three. I promise you it ain’t over. Everyone’s counting us out. It ain’t over. I promise you.”

It’s likely that the Wolves only postponed the inevitable, as asking them to beat the Nuggets in Denver is almost unfair. But with Edwards, Rudy Gobert, Karl-Anthony Towns, Mike Conley, and others, the Timberwolves certainly have the talent to pull off another win and extend the series a little bit longer.

Can Edwards Lead The Timberwolves To A Historic Comeback?

Never before in NBA history had a team come back to win the series after being down 0-3, but there’s a first time for everything, and Edwards believes his team can be the first to do it.

Sadly, the numbers say otherwise. Even after the D’Lo trade, Minnesota hasn’t been the most consistent team in the league, and they struggle to generate clean shots at times. Defensively, they’ve had no answer for Nikola Jokic in the series, who continues to prove why he’s a 2x MVP.

But until the Nuggets get the job done and close the series out, the Wolves are alive, and they still believe they have a chance to win.
