Michael Jordan is still in the lead as the NBA’s greatest player of all time, and this comes on the back of the players in the league voting for the Chicago Bulls legend.

In an anonymous poll by The Athletic’s Sam Amick and Josh Robbins, Jordan received 58.3% of the total votes. Coming in second is Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James with 33.0%, and the late Kobe Bryant in third place with 6.8%.

Per the outlet, “M.J., for sure,” an unnamed player said. “Definitely 6-for-6 (in the Finals) is a big thing for me. But the way I look at basketball is (it’s) about the winning, and if I feel like I need (somebody) to go win me a game, I’m picking M.J. over everybody. (I’d pick) whoever is going to carry me through a series, carry me through the playoffs, and is setting the tone. I think M.J. checks all those boxes.”

The Jordan vs. James debate has hit a new level after the latter surpassed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the league’s leading scorer, although the current poll still leans heavily in favor of MJ. Such has been the Bulls’ icon’s level of performance that he’s the GOAT on our list as well.

Charles Barkley Explains Why He Picked Michael Jordan Over LeBron James As His GOAT

He may have his beef with Michael Jordan, but Charles Barkley revealed why he considered the former as his GOAT over LeBron James.

“LeBron is amazing. What he has done in the community is amazing,” Barkley said on Back On The Record With Bob Costas. “LeBron has stacked his teams. Let’s be realistic.”

“To go through the grind and lose – which Michael did,” he added. “When I was watching that documentary [The Last Dance], I was like, ‘Damn, I forgot how much the Pistons beat him up.’ But going through that struggle, that’s what separates sports.”

And in his own way, Barkley does make sense as Jordan went through that gritty phase where he single-handedly pulled the Bulls deep into the postseason. And quite honestly, it’s always a tough challenge to pick between two of the players who are regarded as the greatest to have ever played basketball.

But for now, MJ is leading, and maybe it will take another ring or two for James to get a lot closer to the number.
