After many months of negotiations, the NBA and NBPA have officially come to an agreement on a new collective bargaining agreement that will set the stage for the next seven years. Overall, many players and executives have expressed optimism over the new CBA, but not all of the changes have gone without objection.

Speaking out on Twitter this weekend, Warriors star Draymond Green became the latest star to call out the NBA for their new CBA rules that limit the spending of the highest-spending teams.

“Players lose again,” Green wrote on Twitter. “Smh! Middle and Lower spectrum teams don’t spend because they don’t want to. They want to lose. So increase their spending capabilities, just to increase them. They continue to cut out the middle. And this is what we rushed into a deal for? Smdh! Never fails…”

With new spending limits soon to be in effect, it’s going to be harder for teams like the Warriors to fill out their roster around their star-studded core. Now, teams are going to have to be extra cautious with who they chose to sign.

In the case of Draymond, this rule could have a more personal meaning for him given the uncertainty surrounding his future with the Warriors.

Will Draymond Stay On The Warriors This Summer?

Amid a chaotic and tumultuous season for Golden State, there was a growing sense that this could be the last run for this Warriors core. With a player option, Draymond could opt in for one more year with the Dubs, but he will no doubt pursue a massive pay raise when he hits free agency.

“Quite frankly, the writing is on the wall. I understand the business,” Green said on his looming free agency. “We tend to get into this mindset that someone owes us something because of what we’ve accomplished. You’d be an idiot to walk around feeling that way. Like, I feel like you’re just setting yourself up for failure. You’re setting yourself up for heartbreak. I understand the luxury tax. I understand you got these young guys and contracts up, and they have to get paid. Like, I understand all of those things. And so, just for me, that’s what I mean by the writings on the wall.”

We will see soon enough how things play out for Dray and the Warriors, but this latest update to the CBA is no doubt a blow to his hopes of staying.

Either way, no matter where he goes, nothing can eliminate his past and the four championships he won at the height of a dynasty.
