NBA analyst Chris Broussard didn’t mince his words when he called out Anthony Davis for sitting out of the clash against the Houston Rockets. It didn’t help the Los Angeles Lakers that they endured a close loss that they can’t afford at this crucial juncture.
“Their remaining 10 games, 9 of them are against teams that are either fighting to get in the Play-In or fighting for a playoff position,” Broussard said on ‘First Things First’.

“I’m not blaming AD. Yeah, sure, he could have said, ‘No, I’m playing.’ I actually would have liked that attitude from him: ‘I’m playing. We need this game. We need every game. I’m playing.’ I would have loved to have seen it, but I don’t think that’s his personality.”
Broussard also took shots at the Lakers management for deciding to sit Davis out as the side knew what was at stake on the road trip. The analyst couldn’t be more right as LA has made massive strides since the trade deadline, and the chemistry between the players is out there to see.
The Lakers play the Dallas Mavericks on Friday, but it appears that Davis sitting out against Houston is still doing the rounds. The big man has been listed as probable against Dallas, and it remains to be seen if he can shut down the noise with a big performance.
Anthony Davis Gets Real On The Lakers’ Decision To Not Make Him Play Back-To-Back Games
While Broussard did make his intentions clear that Davis should have put his hand up and played the back-to-back skirmishes, the latter was pretty much of the same opinion.
“It’s tough, especially in the position we’re in,” Davis said. “Obviously, I want to go out and play. But before I even came back, this was something the doctors and the organization discussed – that they thought it would be best for me not to play back-to-backs because of the foot.”

He further added: “Even though I’m not feeling pain or anything, it’s still an active injury, with the stress reaction and everything. We’re doing all the right things to make sure that I’m ready to go. You want to go out and play but at the end of the day with an injury like that, you don’t want it to go to the other side.”
The Lakers are 34-36 heading into their marquee Friday clash against a short-handed Mavericks who will be without their superstars, Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving. Davis’ availability comes as a massive boost as the team guns for a postseason berth.
Hoping the Lakers won’t pull off more surprises with 12 games remaining in the regular season. They are placed ninth, and the mantra, for now, is onwards and upwards.
