The Los Angeles Lakers are currently in their most crucial part of the season. They are closer than ever to clinching a spot in the postseason, but they have no margin for error right now.
In the absence of LeBron James, Anthony Davis has really stepped up his game to help the team get wins consistently. Davis did so once again by leading the Lakers to a phenomenal victory against the New Orleans Pelicans. However, the Unibrow will be sidelined for their next game against the Houston Rockets. While it may seem like a strange decision, Davis understood the reasoning behind the decision.
“It’s tough, especially in the position we’re in,” Davis said. “Obviously, I want to go out and play. But before I even came back, this was something the doctors and the organization discussed – that they thought it would be best for me not to play back-to-backs because of the foot. Even though I’m not feeling pain or anything, it’s still an active injury, with the stress reaction and everything. We’re doing all the right things to make sure that I’m ready to go. You want to go out and play but at the end of the day with an injury like that, you don’t want it to go to the other side.”

Anthony Davis is one of the most injury-prone players in the NBA right now. He is yet to recover from his recent foot injury, and playing back-to-back games will certainly put him at risk of re-aggravating the injury.
Keeping that in mind, Davis understood the team’s decision of sidelining him against the Houston Rockets and keep him fresh for the game after that.
Anthony Davis Was Dominant Against The Pelicans
Prior to facing off against the New Orleans Pelicans, the Lakers lost a crucial game against the New York Knicks. Anthony Davis took full responsibility for the defeat, but that was certainly not enough.
Most fans wanted Davis to make up for that lackluster performance by dominating the Pelicans. Well, Davis did just that by recording 35 points, 17 rebounds, and 1 assist while playing 33 minutes.
The Lakers have now improved their record to 34-35 and are closer than ever to clinching a permanent spot in the 2023 NBA playoffs. The Purple and Gold are still in the 10th seed, but they can improve that by winning their next game against the Rockets.
