Anthony Davis has to step into the role of a superstar as the Lakers try to make the postseason without LeBron James on the floor.

AD was looking to rebound from a tough night against the Raptors with a win over the red-hot New York Knicks, but AD couldn’t have a big impact as the Lakers lost 112-108. Davis took the blame for the loss after the game.

Anthony Davis on the loss: “My fault. I played terrible.”

Anthony Davis had 17 points and 16 rebounds on the night, failing to consistently score as most of the Lakers struggled to score the ball. The win over the Raptors was a team effort but AD needed to step up today and lead the Lakers to this must-win, as it would have helped the team have a .500 record for the first time this season.

Should Davis Be Hard On Himself?

Anthony Davis has shown a side of himself recently that fans have wanted to see for a long time. He’s being aggressive on the floor and embracing the mantle of leadership. Even when he isn’t having the best offensive performance, he remains engaged on the defensive end. It showed today, as AD hustled hard to ensure the Lakers were within arms reach of the win.

The Lakers face the 12th-seeded Pelicans next, a team that has struggled over the last few months. It’s another must-win situation and LeBron James will definitely not be available. Hopefully, the Lakers can find their offensive momentum once again and get one step closer back to .500 after falling 2 games behind after tonight’s loss.
