Joel Embiid is one of the top players in the NBA right now. The Philadelphia 76ers superstar has been extremely consistent with his performances over the last few years and has been constantly involved in winning the MVP award.

However, Joel Embiid is yet to actually take home the first MVP award of his career. Daryl Morey, among others, believes that Embiid was snubbed last season when Nikola Jokic won the second MVP award of his career. Embiid gave a cold response to winning individual accolades after a phenomenal win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

“MVPs, Defensive Player of the Year, that doesn’t mean anything to me,” Embiid said. “I’m still going to be the best player on the floor.”

Embiid was further asked about his personal favorite to win the 2023 NBA MVP award. But as expected, the 26-year-old simply doesn’t care about it.

“I don’t know, that’s not for me to answer,” he added. “I feel like, obviously, being in the run for the last two years has been whatever. This year, I’ve taken a different approach, just trying to focus on the right things. Win games. Dominate, which I’ve been doing. And whatever happens, happens.”

In a way, Embiid dodged the question of giving a name regarding who is his favorite to win the MVP award this season.

Instead of doing so, Embiid continued to talk about how he is using a different approach regarding the MVP debate. He isn’t dwelling on the final result. Embiid is simply focusing on being the best player on the floor for the 76ers each night.

Joel Embiid Confirmed He’s Done With The MVP Race

Over the last two seasons or so, Joel Embiid has been averaging great numbers in the regular season. Despite that, the Philadelphia 76ers superstar hasn’t been able to win the MVP award.

Considering the fact that he is having yet another great season, many expected him to show his wishes to win the honor this season. But a little while ago, Embiid himself confirmed that he is done with trying to win the MVP award.

“I don’t know. That’s up to you guys to decide,” Embiid told ESPN with a smile, referring to the media, who votes for MVP and the other season-ending awards. “Like I told you, I’m done arguing for myself. It’s all out there. Whatever I do.”

Embiid will remain a phenomenal player in the NBA regardless of the fact that he win the MVP award or not.

The ultimate goal for him should be to focus on winning the NBA Championship for the Philadelphia 76ers. The 76ers are currently third in the Eastern Conference with a 43-22 record.
