The 2023 NBA Draft was historic for many reasons. The obvious one is the entry of Victor Wembanyama, but another reason made it historic, as Amen and Ausar Thompson became the first pair of brothers picked in the top five of the same draft. The pair are headed to the Rockets and Pistons, respectively.

The Thompson twins gave an interview together where they were challenged to name as many players whose names started with A, as the twins went into full basketball nerd mode.

Ausar named Anfernee Simons, Anthony Davis, Alex Caruso, Andrew Wiggins, Aaron Gordon, Aaron Wiggins, Amir Coffey, and Aaron Nesmith before losing to his brother.

Amen, in an incredible showing, named Anthony Edwards, Al Horford, Andre Iguodala, Austin Reaves, Austin Rivers, Aleksej Pokusevski, Anthony Gill, and clinched the win by naming Andrew Nembhard.

The pair only missed out on five names that started with A and played last season. These players were Ayo Dosunmu, AJ Griffin, Aaron Holiday, AJ Lawson, and Alex Len.

After this year’s draft, four more players whose names start with an A have been added. Along with the twins, Anthony Black and Andre Jackson Jr. also were picked in the 2023 Draft.

The Thompson Twins Are Ready To Make An Impact

Draft experts have been waiting for the day these twins enter the NBA for years. They have been famous since they were high school seniors and have made moves that’ll change the landscape for future prospects.

They went and played for Overtime Elite instead of going to the G League, college, or abroad, a completely untrodden path. Despite that and complaints about playing against weak opponents, the brothers went No. 4 and 5 as the best of the rest behind a stacked top three.

Both are headed into rebuilding situations in Houston and Detroit, so they will hope to be the prospect that finally helps both teams rise back into playoff relevance in the NBA. Amen averaged 16.4 points, 5.9 rebounds, 5.9 assists, and 2.3 steals last season with the Elite. Ausar averaged 16.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, 6.1 assists, and 2.1 steals.
