LeBron James is, without any hesitation, one of the best players in NBA history, collecting records almost every season, making it clear that he was meant for greatness from a very young age.
It’s been 20 years since he made it to the association straight out of high school and changed the Cleveland Cavaliers forever with his talents and incredible basketball IQ. Bron is now close to breaking one of the most impressive records in the world of sports, as he’s just 26 points away from surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on the all-time scoring list.
The King has been really consistent with his numbers, not making a lot of noise with big-points games like Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant did, but his longevity is unmatched, which has allowed him to score a lot of points and become the No. 2 all-time scorer in NBA history.
LeBron James Self-Proclaims The Greatest Scorer In NBA History
LeBron has always had issues with the ‘pass-first’ label many people put on him, and it seems like by breaking Kareem’s record, he will put that behind him. He already called himself the GOAT and now is going for more.
Via ESPN:
“I still don’t like it,” James says of the “scorer” label — again, 10-ish days from becoming the most voluminous scorer ever. “I don’t like being singled out as a scorer. I’ve always prided myself in being a pass-first guy — a guy who can make everybody feel comfortable.” Had his spurning of “scorer” status indirectly led to his dismissal from “scorer” discourse?
The King wants people to acknowledge him as a great scorer, and he feels that getting this record will do it for him.
“I see it and I smirk,” James tells ESPN. “When they talk about the best scorers who ever played the game, my name never comes up.” He pauses.
“They have no choice now,” he says. “They have no choice.”
LeBron has always made sure to shut down doubters and haters, and this time, he’ll go after all the people that dubbed him a pass-first guy. He’s on the brink of making history and isn’t shying away from giving himself some flowers. After calling himself the GOAT, LeBron is now going for the greatest scorer of all time title.
